Growing Up

Both Jacob and Josh woke up this morning at 6am. That's not too bad since we get up at 6:30am to get ready for school, but it was just the two of them in bed with me. Jacob watched as I burped little Josh and then we both watched Josh go through all sorts of different facial expressions. Josh reminds me a lot of Jacob when he was that age. Both of them just stared at each other for a while and I realised that it has been almost seven years since Jacob was that small. It especially hit home as I was watching him through the window as he was waiting for the bus. He was standing there, talking with his friends from next-door. He looks so much older. I kept thinking that he's getting too old too fast. But then he and the boys break into a game of high-spirited chase and I realise that he's not too old, yet. I hope that time slows a little for Josh. I'd like to keep him small as long as possible, even though I know that it isn't possible. I just hope that I remember to enjoy this time amid all of the craziness. I love my children!

Journals

The kids and I started to write in our brand new journals today. Some of you may ask yourselves, "Journals? What is a journal? Is that like a blog." Yes, my friends. A journal is a blog except instead of typing on a computer, you write with a pen on actual real paper. I can already hear some of you gasping at this. Nonetheless it was a great experience. I wanted the kids to get used to recording their thoughts on paper for future generations. I love going back and reading my old journals.

Lately I've been doing the blog thing (obviously) because I can type so much faster than I can write. But I decided to set a good example and bought myself another journal with which to record my thoughts. Today I wrote about Georgia, Joshua's birth, what our house looks like, how beautiful spring is, and how much I love my family. Jacob wrote about his day today. Kaylee drew pictures as she is still too young to write and I wrote captions underneath so that we'd know what she was drawing when she looks back on it years from now.

I'm glad that we decided to do this. Hopefully it will become part of our nightly routine. I'm hoping that by my encouraging the kids to write they'll be able to do the same for me.

Hooray for journals!

The Story of the Brave Boyers and the Evil IRS

Most of you don't know this but the Boyers and the IRS have had a very huge difference of opinion as to how much the Boyers owed the IRS from 2004. The IRS said, "You us $100,000.00 US (50,9347.2 GPB, 124,000 AUD, 75,000 EUR, 610,000 NOK, 121,690 CHF)."

"No, we don't," said the Boyers.

"Yes, you do," retorted the IRS.

"No, we really don't," protested the Boyers.

(This goes on for two YEARS)

The Boyers had been trying to show the IRS that they didn't owe them that much, but the IRS kept sending their documents back saying that it was insufficient. So the Boyers finally shelled out some perfectly good money to have the documents professionally prepared.

"Here is our proof! It is gorgeous and perfectly prepared. We'd like to see you try and tell us that we still owe you $100,000 USD!"

"Here is a bill for $100,000 USD." (This was just this last Saturday).

So, the intrepid Naomi called up the IRS today and said, "WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH YOU IDIOTS! WE'VE SENT THE PROOF, YET YOU KEEP HOUNDING US! I'M GOING TO KICK YOUR BUTTS!"

The IRS replied, "Oh. Our bad. Seems that you're right. We're still processing your claim, but right now it looks as though we owe YOU some money."

"! ! !" said the Boyers.

Needless to say, the Boyers are extrememly satisfied with themselves that they bested the IRS for trying to charge them $100,000.

TAKE THAT, IRS!

The End

So Proud!

The Jarum and Naomi Boyer family are proud to announce that our son, Jacob Boyer, came home today as an Honor Roll Student! We could not be more pleased.

Report card day was today, and not only did Jacob do extrememly well, but he was also given a Good Citizenship Award. It's great when your kids do well!

Congratulations, Jacob!

*giggle*

Okay. So this is what happens when you have a husband and an online friend who have way to much time on their hands:
We are nerds. We know it. *goes to put Star Wars music on the radio...*

And here's the IM convo I had with my friend: (oh just so you know, Smurf = Jarum, Kid = Jacob, and Ted = Matt. We gave them weird nicknames. So sue us! :p)

Naomi Boyer: hey. smurf (this is Jarum) was wondering if you could do something for us...
Naomi Boyer: would it be possible for you to take this picture http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b283/naomiboyer/Family/100_0708.jpg and make it look as though he's carrying a lightsaber instead of a rake?
Naomi Boyer: smurf asked me to do it, and i told him that i have no experience in this, and so i defer to the master "D
Naomi Boyer:
kimmymblair: ( <--- this is my Leaky friend. We roomed together in Vegas.) hahahahahahah i can try
kimmymblair: it looks very very possible
kimmymblair: he he
kimmymblair: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b288/Kimmyblair/Random/tedWLightSaber.png
Naomi Boyer:
Naomi Boyer: that's freakin' awesome!
kimmymblair: i'm pretty impressed
Naomi Boyer: can you make it red?
Naomi Boyer: oh, i'm mightily impressed
kimmymblair: yeah!
Naomi Boyer: or green, since kid is wearing red
kimmymblair: i feel bad it's in Kid's eye
Naomi Boyer: lol
Naomi Boyer: oh, it's hysterical, though
Naomi Boyer: that looks so good
kimmymblair: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b288/Kimmyblair/Random/tedWLightSaberGreen.png
Naomi Boyer: yeah. much better
Naomi Boyer: i love it
Naomi Boyer: smurf is going to die
kimmymblair: hahahah
kimmymblair: i'm glad you like it
Naomi Boyer: thanks so much
kimmymblair: anytime!

Three nights in a row

Young Josh has slept through the night for the past three nights. The night before last I actually slept for nine hours straight! It was heavenly. Last night could've been great if Matthew had not woken up at midnight. I don't know what's going on, but he must be going through that I-wake-up-because-I'm-two phase. I remember the other kids doing it. *sigh* Of course it would have to coincide with me finally getting some real sleep at night. Oh well.

My front room and kitchen are so nice and clean. My visiting teachers are coming over in about an hour, and they helped me clean up a bit when we first moved in. I just wanted to show them that their efforts were not wasted. *wink* I suppose I could take some pictures, at least of the front half of my home. Maybe I'll get some shots of the outside, as well. None in the back, though. I'm highly embarassed by the state of the lawn in my back yard. I suppose we really must start thinking about getting a lawn mower. Or at least begging the neighbors to let us use theirs! j/k But I digress.

I have my six week post partum appointment set for the ninth. I wish it were sooner. I really want to start exercising. I at least want to look semi-decent for when July comes around. Plus I seem to have more energy than I've had in ages and I want to do something with it before I just go back to being a tired mom!

BLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOGBLOG

So yes, this is my very own personal blog. People have been getting a bit shirty with me for not posting enough pictures, but when you have four kids under the age of seven, then we can talk. :p

I feel as though my New Year's Resolutions are coming a bit late this year (seeing as it is now March and I am only just now starting to "improve myself") but I really want to keep you all up-to-date with my own blog. Obviously the website thing petered out quite a while ago, but you know how things go. With us it was hurricanes and moving. Oi! But yes. I digress.

Over the weekend the Boyer family decided to have some fun for St. Patty's Day. First off we had a fantabulous breakfast of green eggs and bacon (I didn't have any ham):
We then went out into the yard to do a bit of cleaning up. The weeds were feeling as though they owned the place, and I saved a few helpless plants from being overrun:
And then, of course, we had to take a picture of little Joshua all decked out in green:

There you go. Also, even though this is not at all scientific, I weighed myself and then weighed myself with Josh, and he is now around twelve pounds. That's right, TWELVE! No wonder my arms have been feeling so weak lately! He did sleep through the night, though, so I think I'll forgive him.

And that's the Boyer news as of today. Ta!

Oh, before I go, here are some more pics of Josh:

Now Ta!
